When I was a teenager I was into riot-grrrl and other female rock bands. I loved bands like L7, Bikini Kill and Babes in toyland (You should listen to their version of All by myself. Trust me, it’s something different.)
Anyway, this crocheted chunky scarf is a homage to that period of my life and those girls. My favourite L7 album was called ‘Bricks are heavy’.
As this chunky scarf is pretty heavy (which I love so much when it’s super cold outside) and it’s brick coloured I thought the name would be appropriate enough.
It’s a super easy pattern and it works up incredibly fast. Must say, I love working with a 10mm hook!
I used Katia Artico but you can use any chunky yarn. Gauge is not important at all. Your scarf will only look slightly different. I made it in one colour as I hate weaving in ends plus, ‘less is more’ they say.
My scarf is 28cm wide and a little over 2 metres long, and extremely warm.
Have fun making!
And don’t forget to tag your makes on the socials #bricksareheavyscarf #knotsosquare That would make very happy ???? XSusy
