These past weeks of quarantine have totally sparked my creativity. Although I really want to create other stuff, I keep coming back to market bags. They are such a great alternative for plastic bags. They’re fun to make and as they say, one can never have enough bags. It might be clear what I’ll leave my daughter 😉
Filet crochet
Filet crochet is a wonderful and easy technique with which you can create various pictures, words and other patterns using solid blocks of double crochet stitches in combination with open mesh created with chain stitches. Usually you use a chart that shows you which blocks to fill in and which blocks to leave open. I added a chart to the pattern which makes it easier to follow the rounds.
Drops Muskat
As usual I used one of my favourite yarns, Drops Muskat. It is a fabulous mercerised Egyptian cotton. I love it so much because it has a glorious sheen and is strong and durable. It comes in 40 different shades and is machine washable! Perfect for a crochet market bag if you ask me. But of course you can use any DK cotton.
The pattern
The Flora goes to the market bag is a fun and relatively easy project with endless colour possibilities. “It’s easy to follow because it’s perfectly detailed and organized with helpful photos”, according to one of my testers.
