Mighty Tote Bag – Crochet pattern

The Mighty Tote Bag is a crochet bag full of texture and it’s super sturdy. This bag is an easy carryall and it can do some heavy lifting.

Crochet bag

I designed a crochet bag that’s sustainable (I mean, who wants to be seen carrying a plastic bag these days?) and at the same time it’s looking supercool. Those front post stitches simply look incredible, don’t they? The bag is perfect for school, work and of course for shopping.

The pattern is suitable for the advanced beginner. The most important stitches are the single crochet, half double crochet and Front post treble crochet. That last stitch is responsible for creating the amazing texture this bag has.

You’ll start the bag making the bottom that I designed especially for this bag. It’s a mandala like pattern and I love it. You’ll definitely enjoy working on it!

Scheepjes Amigo and Eco Barbante

The first version of the Mighty Tote bag I made with Scheepjes Mighty (hence the name). This is a very strong but soft yarn. It’s available in 11 natural hues.

Alternatively I’d recommend to make the bag with Hoooked Eco Barbante. I made two Mighty Tote bags with it! I love this yarn because it’s 100% recycled and it’s produced in a sustainable way. It’s of high quality, very sturdy but soft and it doesn’t stretch. It’s a lot heavier than the Mighty yarn though! Although I love natural colours I also their other colours. By the way, I also designed a handbag, The Sun and Moon bag, using this yarn. Together they make a great couple!

As a last resort you could use any aran cotton yarn as both my testers did. Just make sure it’s 100% cotton as that doesn’t stretch.

Check beneath the work of my testers!
