The Padme crochet cowl is the successor of the Leah cowl.
As a lot of you know, the Leah cowl was a huge success. It received a lot of love and I got loads of feedback on it. With your comments in mind, I decided to design a new cowl, the Padme cowl was born!
Like the Leah Cowl, I wanted the part around my neck superlong and snug so that it would protect my neck properly.
Different ribbing
You’ll still start the Padme Cowl from the bottom, increasing on both sides every row. This way the triangle will grow larger. Then you’ll make that extra long “body” of the cowl and you finish with the ribbing and edging.
I made the ribbing easier. The original ribbing was a bit too intricate for a lot of you.
The new ribbing consists of only half double crochet stitches. (With a little twist.) No front post stitches, so less texture but beautiful nonetheless.
The pattern is suitable for the advanced beginner. I’ve also made a photo tutorial to make it even easier.
Different border
Also the original border caused some havoc. The bead stitch wasn’t your favourite. The Padme Cowl’s border consists of easy puff stitches. They’re so decorative and you guys love them!
The Granny stitch
What I didn’t change is the Granny stitch. It is a classic but it’s hipper than ever! It really makes this crochet cowl if you ask me.
I chose again to change colour every row, but you can easily change the look of this cowl by playing with colours. What about making a unicoloured one? I included my colour scheme in the pattern!

Different yarn
For the original Leah crochet cowl I used DK weight yarn, Hobbii Amigo. This time I got my hands on some Hobbii Winter Glow, worsted weight yarn and as it works up super fast I thought it ‘d be ideal for the Padme Cowl.
Hobbii Winter Glow is one of my favourite yarns to work with. It’s so sturdy and the colours are AMAZING! It’s an acrylic wool blend so it’s soft and superwarm!
