My daughter just turned seven, so our household is filled with hearts, rainbows and unicorns. (Ans has been for a few years already.) In that sense she has been a true inspiration for my crochet patterns! And as the Rainbow market bag has been my most successful pattern so far, I suppose you like those rainbows too.
Rainbow flag
My daughter loves the rainbow flag that shows support for the lgtb-community. Some people here in Amsterdam have them hanging from or in front of their windows. You can imagine that for a young girl that feels like a sign that those people must really love rainbows! As I tried to explain to her what the flag stands for and why it’s so important, she just looked at me with incredulous eyes. Mouth open wide. Yep, I ruined that one for her.
Rainbow market bag the second
I really felt like designing another rainbow bag as you loved it so much the first time and when I saw these hearts I just knew I had to use them!
Coincidentally Valentine’s day was around the corner so perfect timing if you ask me!
Personally I seize any opportunity to show my loved ones I love them so I don’t mind a commercial event once a year to show them some extra love.
The hearts consist of double crochets, a slip stitch and a few chains. Easy does it!
Durable Coral
For this bag I used Durable coral mini’s. 9 balls of 20gr to be exact and I nearly used them all up. So no waste! Durable Coral mini’s are available in 86 different colours (among them 9 shades of pink!), so you can create your own rainbow! For my next bag I’m definitely going to use the ‘Brick” colour. Love that one.
Durable Coral is a well known cotton yarn, which has been available for more than 30 years already. It is produced according to the Global Organic Textile (GOTS) 5.0 standard which means it is a sustainable product.
Of course this bag can also be an excellent stashbuster!
PS Thanks to my wonderful tester Carrie, the pattern comes with an extra one handle option.
