The Giza vest – Crochet pattern

giza vest

After the Bud Spencer slipover I wanted to design another vest-like garment for summer.

What better yarn to use in summer than cotton?

Borgo dei pazzi Giza

I was very lucky to be gifted a few skeins of Borgo dei pazzi Giza, in the Netherlands imported by Fair yarns. This yarn, a luxurious cotton, is extremely soft and is made from high quality Egyptian fibres. It’s an even yarn with a lot of volume compared with mercerized cotton. It’s the fluffiest, cuddliest cotton I ever worked with.

Crochet vests are superhip

I just love, love, the comeback the vest, or slipover, made. For a long time it was something very old-fashioned that I couldn’t have imagined showing its face again on the runways and on the street. Let alone wearing one myself again or designing one! (Or two ;-))

The Giza vest

The Giza vest has large armholes which I just think looks awesome. I gives it a little twist and more ‘bite’. You know I don’t like being a square 😉

My plan was to add extra wide ribbing, but alas, I ran out of yarn so it’s not as wide as I intended. (Yes, and I didn’t feel comfortable asking for more.)

I think it’s still an option for you as it gives the vest that little bit of extra spice.

Ready for summer

I think with this vest your wardrobe for this summer will be complete.  The Giza vest looks great over a t-shirt, blouse or singlet. It gives your outfit just that little bit extra. Extra colour, extra warmth, extra style.
