This Charming bag – Free crochet pattern

this charming bag

This Charming bag is the ideal crochet bag to carry along your phone, your credit card and some mints. Bring it along with you on an evening out, to a festival or when you simply take a stroll in the park.

This easy to make crochet bag is superhip and it has a superb retro look as it’s made of granny squares!

I chose to make unicoloured squares, but you can easily change the look of this little baggie by playing with colours. What about changing colour each row?

Beginner friendly crochet pattern

This crochet bag works up quickly and is beginner friendly. The printable PDF contains a lot of helpful photos.

Yarn and Colors Super Charming

I seriously don’t understand why this yarn is being discontinued. I luvv it!! Its the thicker variant of Charming and it’s made of cotton and acrylic. It has a beautiful stone washed look and is available in a range of 50 gorgeous colours. You can still get it at yarnplaza.com. If you can’t get your hands on it I’d recommend using Scheepjes River- or Stonewashed XL.

Make the panels

Join two squares with sc’s in outer loops, RS facing you. Join the other 2 squares too. Now you have 2 panels.

I made a lining for my bag. Choose a piece of fabric and cut a piece of 24,5×24,5cm, fold in two which makes the piece 12×24 cm, sew up over length and width, keep upper part open. Fold upper part double and sew up loosely. Sew the bottom and upper part of the little bag you made on the WS of the panel. Attach a button if you like.

Join the panels

Join the two panels with sc’s, starting in the top left of the bag, make 3sc’s in the two corners at the bottom.
Sc around upper edge. Fasten off needle close.

Strap

Make a knot cord with 2 colours. I made mine 80 cm long.

Make two pompoms and attach them on the bag where the strap begins and ends.

Congratulations!
