The Verona Market Bag is a crochet bag that works up superfast. In no-time you’ve got yourself a boho chic shopping bag which also makes a great gift!
Crochet bag
I designed a crochet bag that’s sustainable (I mean, who wants to be seen carrying a plastic bag these days?) and at the same time is looking supercool. The bag is perfect for school, work and of course for shopping.
The pattern is suitable for beginner crocheters. The most important stitches are the single crochet, half double crochet and double crochet. Only the double crochet 4 together might be a bit tricky. It’s fun though to create the oval shaped forms!

What yarn to use?
As it is one of my favourite yarns for market bags, I used Drops Muskat, an excellent mercerized Egyptian cotton. It has a glorious sheen and is super strong and durable. It comes in 40 different shades and is machine washable. Most importantly, cotton is a natural product and completely biodegradable. Drops Muskat holds up really well and I’ve used it many times for crochet bags.
If you decide to use a different yarn, I would still recommend a 100% cotton one. Cotton is bio-degradable, it’s strong and sturdy and gives good stitch definition. You can also check yarnsub.com for some yarn substitutions.
